Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar

Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar is an extraordinary dhikr and Dua that is preferably most loved by Allah (ﷻ) in comparison to any other dhikr.

Hazrat Samurah Bin Jundub (RA) narrated that the Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said near to Allah (ﷻ) there are 4 most loved Kalima and starting with anyone is not wrong for you. (Sahi Muslim: 5725)

  1. Subhan-Allah
  2. Walham-Dulillah
  3. Wala Ilaha Illallah
  4. Wallahu Akbar

Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) also said that undoubtedly the dhikr you all do of the lordliness of Allah (ﷻ) like tasbih, kalima, and dhikr, or any word you say.

They all take rounds of the Arsh, they all murmur like the murmuring of honey bees, they mention or dhikr to Allah (ﷻ) of the people who dhikr them, do you not want that your dhikr is also done to nearby Allah (ﷻ). (Sunan Ibn-Majah: 3808)

This Hadith tells us that if we want our dhikr is to be done nearby Allah (ﷻ), then we should diligently recite these tasbih because reciting these are far better than many things.

Subhanallah Walhamdulillah in Arabic

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Meaning in English Translation

When you recite these dhikr in a singular form then you don’t need to add Wa, which is used to combine the full tasbih.

  • Subhanallah means “Glory to be Allah”
  • Alhamdulillah means “Praise to be Allah”
  • La Ilaha Illallah means “There is no God except Allah”
  • Allahu Akbar means “Allah is great”

Glory to be Allah, praise to be Allah, There is no God except Allah, Allah is great.

Benefits of this Kalima with Hadith

Prophet’s Lovely Dhikr

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said “saying Subhan-Allah Walham-Dulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar” Glory to be Allah, praise to be Allah, There is no God except Allah, and Allah is great. Near me, it’s the most lovely among all others on which the sun rises. (Sahi Muslim: 7022)

This means that near to the Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ), doing the dhikr of this tasbih is more lovely than any other things. This kalima is so simple that even a kid can remember then why not every Muslim should recite it and fill their wallets full of good deeds and goodnesses for the day of judgment.

Today in this world, we don’t understand the importance of these Kalima but on the day of judgment when every single person will suffer for one-one good deeds, everyone will remorse and thinks to get one more chance in the world so that they can do a lot of good deeds and goodnesses.

Forgiveness of Sins

Hazrat Anas (RA) narrated that the Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) was passing from a tree, which leaves were dry, the Prophet (ﷺ) smack stick on the tree and the leaves fall.

Then the Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said with “Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar” sins fall in the same way like the leaves of this tree has fallen. (Al-Tirmidhi: 3533)

This Hadith indicates to us that when a person does dhikr of these tasbih, Allah (ﷻ) forgive us our sins and not only forgive, we also get a lot of goodnesses (Nekiyan).

Doors of the Sky opens

Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) narrated that we were praying Salah with Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) and from the gatherings (Jamaat) a person said,

“Allahu Akbar Kabira, Walham Dulillahi Kaseera, Wa Subhanallahi Bukrataun Wa Aseela”

Then the Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ) asked who is the one saying this Kalima, that person from the gatherings said Ya Rasoolallah (ﷺ) I’m that person. The Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said I’m amazed that the doors of the sky were open for him.

Onto which Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) said after that I never left these Kalima from when I listened from the Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ) that the doors of the sky were open for that person. (Sahi Muslim: 1386)

Long Life and Protection from Hellfire

Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said near Allah (ﷻ) no one is best from that Momin (Imaan) person who has given a long life in Islamic condition for his Tasbih (kalima), Tahreer and Takbeer. (Musnad Ahmad: 1401)

This Hadith indicates to us that doing Tasbih or reciting these dhikr diligently will increase your lifespan, and not only that, you will also become one of the best person close or near to Allah (ﷻ).

Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said achieve your protection, the companions (Sahaba) of the Prophet (ﷺ) said Ya Rasoolallah (ﷺ) is enemies have arrived?

Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said no but protection from Hell (Jahannam), recite Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar.

Because this Kalima will protect you from in front and from behind on the day of judgment, and these Kalima are the Salihat of the judgment-day.

Subhanallah 100 times Benefits

The Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said the one who says Subhanallah 100 times after the sun rises and before the sunset, for him, it’s better than 100 camels. (Sahi Al-Targeeb Wal Tarheeb: 658)

Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said few supplications (Dua) are there, whose 100 times reciter will never be disappointed, Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wala Ilaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar. (Sahih Al-Adab Al-Mufrad: 486)

This means that the person who will recite these tasbih 100 times, will never be disappointed or discouraged in their life, and InshaAllah will succeed in every stage and huddles of their life.
