Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum is the two greatest names of Allah (ﷻ), also considered Isme Azam by many Islamic scholars of the world.
Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) said the greatest name (Isme Azam) of Allah is in three Surah of the Quran and that is Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-e-Imran, Surah Taha.
Through which the Dua of the person will be fulfilled if he prays to Allah (ﷻ) by taking those names. (Ibn e Maja-Hakim, Jamia Al Saghir)
Therefore if you recite the first line of Ayatul Kursi, which is in Surah Al-Baqarah, you’ll get these two greatest names of Allah.
Hazrat Abu Imama (RA) told that I searched Isme Azam according to the sayings of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ) and I found it 3 Ayat.
- Ayat 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah “Allahu laaa Ilaaha Illaa Huwal Hayyul Qayyumu”
- Ayat 2 of Surah Al-e-Imran “Allahu laaa Ilaaha Illaa Huwal Hayyul Qayyumu”
- Ayat 111 of Surah Taha “Wa Anatil Wujuhu Lil Hayyil Qayyum”
In another narration or anecdote (Riwayat) of Hadith, the Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ) said the greatest names of Allah (ﷻ) is in these two Ayat.
- Wa Ilahukum Ilahuw Wahid, La Ilaha Illa Huwar Rahmanur Rahim.
- Alif Laam Meem, Allahu laaa Ilaaha Illaa Huwal Hayyul Qayyumu.
Imam Tirmidhi (RA) stated that this is an authentic Hadith because the Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ) used to recite this diligently in His Dua.

Bismillah.. Although it is enough for a muslim that these names belongs to Allah then no dought it is beneficial for us and are the greatest.. but to know the history and background of the dua it feels more attached with the dua.. I used to recite this & Ayat e Kareema when ever in any tension, problmen, confusion or any difficulty in my life and always find a solution or I get the strenght / way to handle that situation.
Good research, well explained.. Jazak Allah.. Keep up the good work.
